Girlfriend vs Girl Friend

Guys (of the male kind), do you have a close female friend? And by 'close', I don't mean that best friend of yours that happens to have the XX genes. It's the other 'girl friend'.

So if you do have one, take notes. You need to know this.

*All are written from the POV of the 'girl friend'.*

Myth #1: We love meeting your girlfriend, and of course she’s welcome to join us at the movies (substitute dinner, lunch, etc., or whatever fits your situation)
Truth: We can take the “How We Met” story once, maybe twice if we’re not experiencing PMS or are a bit tipsy, but that’s the limit. We feign a smile and a nod over salad and champagne as we watch you two hold hands, but inside we’re mentally writing our grocery list, thinking about that work proposal or counting the number of freckles on her forehead. Has she had Botox or ‘work’ done? You’re so in love. We get it.

Myth #2: We never compare ourselves to your lady love. Why would we be so insecure and shallow?
Truth: The minute I heard about Megan, I did the only logical thing. I furiously Googled her and looked for her on MySpace and Facebook. I just had to see this vision of perfection. What color was her hair? Was her skin creamier than mine? I did everything short of e-stalking but came up empty-handed. The thing is, though, we do it all in secret. If you ever ask us, we remark, “Of course not. What am I? Jealous? Pfft. Someone sure thinks highly of himself, doesn’t he?”

Myth #3: We never drift off during the day and daydream about the day you two break up. For good.
Truth: Women are natural predators. We want to be top dog. It’s just in our nature. Even I’ve been guilty of this. The whole storming in on the wedding scene in Four Weddings and a Funeral has always held special meaning for me. Now I know why. And don’t even get me started on My Best Friend’s Wedding. We may like you two separately, but together…well, we secretly hoped that would end eventually. And by eventually, we really mean soon. Very soon.

Myth #4: We’re definitely NOT in love with you. Platonic friendships are soooo 2009.
Truth: Women have no trouble dishing dirt and secrets with their girlfriends a la Sex & The City. But with members of the opposite sex, we become mumbling mutes, heavy on the mute side. We have enough trouble admitting our feelings to ourselves, so guys, if a female friend gives that awkward laugh and says “Of course I don’t have feelings for you,” chances are she’s this close to making out with you like two lonely high schoolers. I don’t know how much clearer we can make it.

I admit it. I was guilty of all four, BUT I am proud to report that there is no more pining, no more yearning for the past I am totally liberated now!

It's Only Wednesday..

.. but I'm already looking forward to the weekend!

Clockwise from top left: Playing with Ean the nephew, getting my Golden Half,
meeting up with Zara to pass her shoes that have been with me forever lol,
International Career Fair at MidValley.

Gosh. I don't know what I want to do after I graduate. And graduation is only 4 months away!
I am fervently hoping that I won't fail any subjects this semester. I already have my graduation baju kebaya tailor-made!
But then again, that surely means that I somehow, subconsciously know that I'm going to graduate, right?

Of Male Nurses and Eternal Love

They still have not arrive in Kuantan. Still at the post office in KL! Dammit. I am so hoping to sleep wearing them tonight... :(

Oh, and one of the male nurses flirted with me (I THINK), when I went to donate blood at KOM today.
Kept asking about my name, where I'm from, whether he should go get an extra blanket for me or not blablabla. I almost told him off. Haha.

But that incident still didn't help to get my mind off of the fact that I'm only gonna get my babies on Monday!

A Super Excited Come-Back Post

Do you know that feeling when the crush you've been (not so) secretly eyeing for the longest time EVER finally comes up to you and says 'Hi'?

Do you know that feeling when you find out that that said crush who's been attached to some lucky girl since forever, finally becomes single and back on the market again, AND he texts/calls you wanting to hang out/have a coffee/go watch a (romantic) movie together/have a nice walk on the beach/--insertanymushycutesweetactivitieshere-- with YOU?

Do you know that feeling when the same crush asks you to be with him after going on that date, revealing the fact that the feeling you've been having towards him all these while is mutual, where he's also been crushing on you since like, forever?

Do you?

Do you really?

Well I do.

I am so over the moon right now.
XD

Ladies and gentlemen, meet my crush,
who just in a few days time,
will become
my OTHER HALF.

*You'll see what I mean by 'a few days time'. Just keep on reading!*

That, my friends, is LOVE. :)

LOVE like you never know before.

LOVE that strikes you breathless, before you even know of its power.

LOVE that can keep you up all night.
(okay, that was cheesy, using a line from a BSB song)

I don't know why I referred to it as a masculine entity, but whatever.
I'm trying to express the ohmygoshI'msoinloverightnow feeling :)

It (almost) didn't hurt forking out the cash to get these babies.

What's a truckload of cash (not really) when you get to own the LOVE of your (current) life?
Spending seems to come so easily when something you LOVE keeps crossing your mind oh-so-frequently.
(I dreamt of them 3 times so far, and I was so mightily euphoric wearing them in those dreams)

They are already at the customs now, and will come into my eternal possession in 2 or 3 days, which feels like years.

I just can't wait to get my hands on them.

If you are as obsessed about shoes as I am, you know the feeling.

:)

Here's to the safe arrival of the LOVE of my life!

*grins like a maniac*
